Class I decreased and Class III increased which means the PPD with decrease. Fat increased a little but Protein and Other solids were the big winners.

For 4 days last week the September Cheese price per pound was between $1.6810 and $1.6930 (Friday). Maybe this trend can be maintained? Maybe all the hot weather is reducing milk supply? Class III futures price for Sept. closed the week at $16.52. If these prices hold this is good news. Maybe dairy product consumption, is anticipated to go up with all schools starting again in late August and early Sept. An old rule of thumb was that Class III milk price would be approximately 10 times the cheese price per pound. I do not know if this rule of thumb is still valid but I am glad for the higher cheese and milk prices.
As I put in my Class and Component newsletter, the rise in Class III is likely going to be offset by the drop in Class I. I expect almost no change in the August milk check. September is another story on the positive side.
PPD was just released down $0.78/cwt.
Overall, the SUP price increased $0.07/cwt. Not much difference from July.
